One of the most neglected facets of operating a website is maintaining backups. Having a backup of your content helps ease your mind that your site can be easily recovered from disaster.
Liquid Web offers a managed solution for backups called Guardian. Guardian is a fully managed robust backup solution that provides continuous data protection and off-site disaster recovery for Linux and Windows Dedicated Servers.

Shared Accounts
Liquid Web maintains backups for the server going back a few days. The backups maintained by Liquid Web are meant for disaster recovery and it is advised that you maintain a local copy of your site for backup purposes. To create a backup via cPanel for your site just follow this guide:
VPS Accounts
It is recommended that the backup utilities within cPanel or Plesk be used to provide you with accessible backups for your VPS account.
Enabling backups on cPanel accounts is done via the WHM(Web Host Manager) for your account. You can follow this guide to configure these backups:

Enabling backups on accounts using Plesk is done via the Plesk admin interface. You can follow this guide to configure these backups:
Please be advised backups created via cPanel or Plesk are not managed by Liquid Web and you will be responsible for verifying their validity and that they are running properly.
Managed Dedicated Server Accounts
Liquid Web offers two backup solutions for dedicated servers.
The first option is Liquid Web’s managed backup solution Guardian. This fully managed solution provides you with incremental recovery points. This solution is available on both linux and Windows servers regardless of whether the server has a control panel or not.
The other solution, which is unmanaged, is to utilize a backup drive in conjunction with the backups created via cPanel or Plesk.

Unmanaged Dedicated Server Accounts
The only backup solution Liquid Web offers to unmanaged servers is Guardian. This fully managed solution provides you with incremental recovery points. This solution is available on both linux and Windows servers.
If you do not choose to use Guardian you will be responsible for your own backup solution.
Colocation Accounts
Colocation customers are responsible for own backups, but you can still purchase a Guardian account.
