Administering LiteSpeed Web Server in cPanel
Filed under: Technical Support

If you are used to administering Apache on a cPanel server, administering the faster Litespeed webserver is not that much different. Litespeed transparently takes over for Apache; any configuration changes that you would normally make in an Apache configuration file or .htaccess files is still made in those files. In fact, once Litespeed is installed you can administer your cPanel server like you normally would. The few changes you would want to make to Litespeed directly can be done through your server’s Web Host Manager (WHM).

Creating an Auto Responder in cPanel

The End of PHP 4

Back in 2008, all development stopped on PHP 4. Since that time, no features have been added, no bugs have been fixed, and no security holes have been patched up.

After supporting it for years, cPanel recently removed PHP4 as an option from EasyApache. Since Liquid Web relies on cPanel to administer a good number of our servers, we too have stopped fully supporting PHP 4.

While it is in your best interest to move to the most recent version of PHP 5, it may not be possible to do so immediately. cPanel does give us an unsupported way to run PHP 4 in the interim.

Default Mail Addresses in cPanel

Most of the time this mail comes from spammers, guessing that “abc123@example.com” might be a viable email address at your domain. It might also come from someone mistyping the first part of your legitimate email address.

cPanel handles this mail through the Default Address page.
